The Madison Museum of Fine Art is an art museum on the town square of Madison, Georgia.
Founded in 2005 by Michele L. Bechtell, the Museum features three interior galleries with club chairs and fireplace, an outdoor sculpture garden, a continuous film corner, and a MuseumStore. The galleries display original works by American and European masters including Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, James Abbott McNeill Whistler, and Joseph Leyendecker. The Museum also displays an important collection of Asian Buddhist art and artifacts dating from the 3rd century. And from the African tradition, visitors will find hand-carved stone sculptures created by the founding fathers of the Shona sculpture movement in Zimbabwe.
Throughout the year, the Museum provides multi-disciplinary educational programming to enhance appreciation of the permanent collection, offer an extra classroom setting for the study of original objects that illuminate school curricula, and encourage life-long learning. Original programming includes lectures, film, temporary exhibitions, and special events.
